Workout @ Work 2016
Workout @ Work
Workout at Work is a campaign (which has been successfully running for five years!) promoting healthy physical and mental wellbeing in the work environment; leading to improved working habits and reduced sickness absence.
A trial study last year offered 30 council staff a 15-minute physiotherapy assessment and advice session. The results from this saw one third receive simple exercises and lifestyle advice. A further third needed a follow up appointment 4 weeks later to check progress. Whilst the final third, who had significant pain, were referred on for further treatment. Many staff expressing that they valued the support from a physiotherapist.
Staff members may struggle from musculoskeletal problems; giving them support and advice, encouraging proper breaks and increasing levels of physical activity can have successful impacts on their working capabilities.
